Procedure for securing Import Clearance for Recyclable Materials Containing Hazardous Substances

Recyclable materials containing hazardous substances which are allowed for importation are scrap metals, solid plastic materials, electronic assemblies and scrap, use oil, lead acid batteries and fly ash. When all requirements are complied with the import clearance, registration shall be issued after the notification from the exporting countries have been received by the DENR.

  1. EMB Records Section receives consent/approval from transit countries and countries of destination
  2. Environmental Quality Division (EQD) screens and verifies documents
  3. Hazardous Waste Management Section evaluates and assess documents
  4. Chief, EQD conducts final review and gives recommendation
  5. Office of the Director approves/disapproves
  6. Hazardous Wastes Management Section releases registration/import clearance
